Wanted: Beachy Hair

Enduring one of the wettest winters in the past 15 years near eBay HQ has us desperately seeking any portal through which to live vicariously through Chrissy Teigen’s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit comeback or Beyoncé in one of her stunning recent pregnancy announcement photos. But we think we’ve got the key, and you better believe we’re sharing it with you. Aside from the glam squads and professional photographers and all around production teams that worked together to pull off Chrissy and Bey’s beachy, sexy, ethereal, general goddess-among-us aesthetics, there’s one element we can copy and recreate at home.

Yes, we’re talking about beach hair! And while we may not have the time off from work or the travel budget to fly to exotic sandy lands or the unparalleled next level inner power and strong confidence of Queen B to slay the wet hair look, we’ve got mega watt blow-dryers, volumizing tonic, one and a quarter inch curling irons, hair texturizer, root-boosting dry shampoo, salt-infused surf spray, and lightweight finishing spray. And with those tools and a little practice smizing for mirror selfies, we have everything we need to create fun, messy, undone, big beach waves—string bikini and flower body art optional. Here’s how!

1. After washing and conditioning hair, towel and blow dry if needed.

2. Add texture with Surf Spray or mousse to create volume.

3. Curl sections of your hair with a curling iron while leaving the ends free. Then, 4. Flip your hair over, loosen curls with your fingers or a wide tooth comb, and apply some hairspray for hold.
